Plastic surgery is one of the medical specialties that are very popular in this world. This is concerned with the restoration or correction of form and function of any part of the body. This kind of surgery has many types which includes cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and burn treatments. Among those types, cosmetic surgery is the most popular one. Plastic surgery is such a complicated field of work and someone who will be performing this one should be relatively an expert in it.
When talking about expert plastic surgeon, the name Dr. Loren Borud should definitely be on the list. Borud has been in this field of medical specialization for more than 20 years. Before he became an outstanding plastic surgeon in the United States, Borud was an outstanding student. Borud is a man that valued his education more than anything else. While studying in the famous Stanford University, he double majored in Physics and in Human Biology. These two fields are considered by many as very difficult branches of science. Aside from receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, he was also able to receive the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honors. Phi Beta Kappa is given only to about 10 percent of the graduating class in the entire United States with only 10 percent of educational institutions in the country with PBK chapters.
He took up his medicine degree from another respected institution in America, the Harvard Medical School. Upon finishing this degree, Dr. Loren Borud went to a five-year residency in general surgery at University of California – Los Angeles. Currently, Dr. Loren Borud has focused on other things aside from his practice in plastic surgery. He already finished writing his own book entitled Plastikonomics: What I Learned as a Harvard Plastic Surgeon. This book tackles about how plastic surgery works, how technology affects this medical field, and how it reacts to governmental and cultural forces. It also talks about the widespread scenario of patients going overseas just have their bodies enhanced.
